Unfortunately, animal ingredients can be found in ready-made barbecue sauces. For this reason -for those who love the smokey taste of this sauce- I have prepared Vegan Barbeque Sauce, which is easy to prepare and store at home. Homemade is always richness.

Since we are in the middle of summer, I will share many sauce recipes to be made with the blessings of summer. I hope we all try these sauces together – we will consume them with peace of mind throughout the coming winter.It may sound troublesome, but I will try to explain it quite simply.

A flavorful and complex homemade Vegan Barbeque Sauce Recipe that is deep, smoky, tangy, and subtly sweet with a little bit of heat. Wonderful on! Well basically anything in your opinion! Make a batch of it and store it in the fridge for up to a couple of months. Feels good to know there are no strange ingredients on the label. You’ll find unlimited space to use this Vegan Barbeque Sauce. I will assist you with this.

Vegan Barbeque Sauce Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons oil
  • 1 a large onion- finely diced
  • 8 fat garlic cloves- rough chopped
  • 10 – 12 ounce can tomato paste
  • 1 or 2 cup water
  • 1 cup apple vinegar or grape vinegar (apple vinegar is good)
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce or GF alternative
  • 1/2 cup molasses
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar ( or other sugar alternative)
  • big pinch salt and pepper
  • 3–4 tablespoons Chipotle peppers the juice only.
  • Optional additions or substitutions – cumin, chipotle powder, smoked paprika etc. ( I like cumin)

Vegan Barbeque Sauce Instructions

  • Heat oil over medium high heat in a large sauce pan or skillet. Add onions and sauté, and stir continuously for 4-5 minutes. Turn heat down to medium low and add garlic. Sauté 6-7 more minutes, stirring and cooking until golden and translucent.
  • Add tomato paste and let it brown in the skillet for about 3 minutes turning heat up a bit.
  • Add water and stir to incorporate.
  • Add vinegar, soy, molasses, brown sugar and big pinch salt and pepper.
  • Cook for 3- 4 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add canned chipotle pepper in one tablespoon at a time. Cook only for 5-10 more minutes.
  • Your Vegan Barbeque Sauce is ready. After waiting for 1-2 minutes, fill in small jars. Before it cools down, close the lids and turn them upside down. Let the sauces cool in the jar with the lids closed and upside down.
  • Store in the refrigerator after cooling. You have 6 months for closed jars and 2 months for opened jars 😉

Vegan Barbeque Sauce Notes

  • When the sauce is ready and turn off the fire, add a large pinch of cumin and mix. then put them in jars. that would be a really good touch.
  • You have 6 months for closed jars and 2 months for open jars. Do not forget this!
  • Check the consistency, maybe you need to boil it extra.
